Does anyone know how to construct a circular pedigree? or where one could get a template from please? or any other ways of writing out a massive multi generational pedigree?
I have traced my old orgional back to Anns son, and have it all on numerous sheets of A4!

There's a question! I have done several, but that was back in the 1980's and I really can't remember where I bought the forms. They took, literally, months to do and i bought 0.1 mapping pens to get the writing small enough. I could try and measure it - not that easy! Tom found the table in an auction: not a fashionable table but it fits the pedigree.

These days I just content myself with printing Breedmate's seven generations on one sheet of A4: lazier but a lot quicker

PS I had tried to colour code the dogs using highlighters, but over the years the colours have faded and altered.

OK - hunting for one now "Katja Mirando"

Mine are all on an excel spreadsheet. Stopped going backwards once I got to pure King Charles breeding, unknown's and red & white, plus authentic Cocker!!!!

The reason for this exercise was to see by using a "foreign" dog just how much fresh blood was I getting.
The answer is very little, the KC only goes back 3 generations on one side, so at first glance it was looking good (4 out of 8), I managed to get back 5 generations (5 foreign dogs out of 32) now at 7 generations of the 128 dogs. There are 2 unknown leaving 126, 8 appearing to be "foreign" but the same sire or his son account for 4, and 3 generations behind him is all UK breeding, of the 4 bitches, 3 appear to come from the same kennel and only 1 is different. The remaining 118 are all BRITISH. So it would appear the answer is less than 1%.

I remember before once using an unknown dogs and the comments that raised, mainly but it's "pet" breeding but within a few generations it was all well-known. I also tracked back for someone their welsh puppy farmed dog. In 5 generations and it had more Champions than my lot put together!!!

    Jane,

I don't know how you did that without going totally mad. I wouldn't begin to try to even read it. The mind boggles.
