OFCOM UPHOLDS CAVALIER BREEDER'S COMPLAINT OF UNFAIR TREATMENT The long awaited OFCOM report on the BBC's Pedigree Dogs Exposed has now been published and runs to 100 pages. You can read the full text of their report from the link below. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/obb/prog_cb/pedigree_dogs_exposed.pdf One of the complaints relates to Mrs Virginia Barwell and she has asked us to publish the following: Mrs Virginia Barwell, a well known and respected breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, has had a complaint of unfair treatment by the controversial BBC programme 'Pedigree Dogs Exposed' upheld by Ofcom. Ofcom's fairness committee has upheld Mrs Barwell's complaint of unfair treatment in the Programme and has directed the BBC to broadcast a summary of the finding of unfair treatment. Mrs Barwell commented 'As a cavalier breeder of 40 years standing, I was asked by the chairman of the CKCS club to be interviewed for the programme. I expected it would be a truthful and factual piece, based on sound and unbiased journalism and was devastated when my interview was edited to show me in the worst possible light. I am happy that this matter has now been resolved.' |
