The number one site for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed in the UK.

UNIVERSAL CAVALIER

Launched in August 2007, the Universal Cavalier is a traditional style print magazine only viewable on the Internet. Editor Anne Marie Rasmussen resides in Canada and has been involved in dogs for nearly 30 years and Cavaliers for about 17 of those years. The magazine is of international interest to the Fancy with advertising but more importantly articles and pictures of interest to Cavalier breeders, exhibitors and lovers of the breed and no concentration on one particular country.

The magazine will have 6 issues a year at http://universalcavaliermagazine.com/universalnew/ and a new issue to come out every 2 months after that. Some back issues will be viewable online on the website but plans are being made for back issues to be available in PDF form on disc for a fee. Access to the magazines on the website will be by subscription for the very reasonable fee of $25 Canadian per year (6 issues), at current exchange that is less than £12.

Each issue will have a "focused breeder" article but chosen from breeders by rotating through countries where there is a strong Cavalier community. As well through the use of contributing editors Cavalier news from around the world is recounted in a news feature in each issue.

For those interested in how the magazine is made first is the development stage with the ideas for articles in each issue being thought out and planned and then contacting people who would be featured in the article to see if they were interested in participating.
The advertising deadline is set a couple of weeks earlier than for the articles and it is the 15th of the month before the next issue is due out. Example the second issue is due out mid-October so advertising must be submitted by September 15th. However this format is good news for advertisers as late breaking news can be submitted and included to within a few days of the latest issue going out. When the content of the magazine is finished it is then put into pdf form and uploaded.

Subscribers can then log on to the website and the magazine will be able to be viewed looking much like a print magazine. However instead of physically turning a page you can use your keyboard or mouse to turn to a new page. If you want to go directly to a specific article there are links in the table of contents or else the page number can be typed in to take you directly to that page. You can use the zoom in or zoom out controls to read articles or view pictures. Some of the viewing experience may be different for different people depending upon the speed of their connection and so how fast the data is loaded. Using the controls you can move the "zoomed" area around the page to read articles.

Anne Marie is always looking for new ideas or suggestions for articles or people to be interviewed and you would be welcome to contact her at http://universalcavaliermagazine.com/universalnew/
