Heart Testing
Members of Eastern Counties CKCS Society can have their dogs hearts tested at 2 of our shows during the year. We offer subsidised cardiologist tests at £5 per dog at our April Championship show and our October Open show - subject to demand. Dogs need to be entered for the show or NFC. Syringomyelia
Members of Eastern Counties CKCS Society are eligible to attend a REDUCED COST MRI SCAN for Cavaliers which they own. This offer has been arranged between ECCKCSS and
QUEENS VETERINARY COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE Groups of 3 cavaliers are being booked in on Mondays or 4 on Fridays. The cavaliers will be sedated & NOT put under General Anaesthetic. Cost will be £175 per dog and the scans will be read by Nick Jefferies. Peter Towse p950@btinternet.com is the Committee member responsible for co ordinating arrangements.
ECCKCSS will continue for a second year to fund the support with an additional £25.00 per dog off the preferential, negotiated rate of £175 per dog. The Society will make these payments direct to the Veterinary College conducting the scan, reducing the actual cost to £150 per dog. This financial support may be limited, and therefore on a first come first served basis.
All scanning will be set up in complete confidence. Your results are between you & the scanner, however we would urge you to consider sharing your results with Sarah Blott of the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, who is researching the problem of syringomyelia and developing breeding strategies to reduce the occurrence.
